Demi Lovato gets giant lion image tattooed on hand
Demi Lovato has had a large image of a lion tattooed on her left hand.
The Skyscraper singer paid a visit to celebrity tattoo artist Keith 'Bang Bang' McCurdy on Tuesday night (25Apr17), following her appearance at the Time 100 Gala at the Lincoln Center in New York.
Demi documented the tattoo process on her Snapchat and Instagram stories, and posed for a selfie with her hand across her face to show off her new artwork, which stretches right across the top of her hand.
She also flashed a large smile as she stood for a snap alongside McCurdy, who has also inked Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.
Earlier in the evening, Demi wowed the star-studded crowd at the Time 100 Gala with a high-energy performance of her songs Confident, Stone Cold and Cool for the Summer.
The 24-year-old was also among the honourees at the event, as she was named one of the publication's 100 Most Influential People of 2017, joining the likes of John Legend, Ashley Graham and James Corden.
The former Disney Channel star was feted for work on lessening the stigma attached to mental illness, following her own struggles with bipolar disorder, depression and an eating disorder as a teenager, before she entered a rehab facility at the age of 18.
"After being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, instead of hiding it she partnered with Be Vocal, a campaign devoted to getting people to speak up about mental illness and the stigma around it," wrote Arianna Huffington in Time magazine of Demi and her willingness to discuss her battle in public. "She has also been a public role model, unashamedly chronicling her struggles with substance abuse (she is now five years sober) and eating disorders. And having been bullied as a child, Demi has taken up the cause to protect other children."
