Def Leppard star winning cancer battle again
Def Leppard rocker Vivian Campbell is celebrating after another thumbs up from doctors in his ongoing cancer battle.
The guitarist announced he was in remission in November (13), but had to backtrack when medics advised him the cancer had returned.
Now, Campbell reveals he's cautiously optimistic after receiving
his latest prognosis.
In a new Facebook.com post, he writes, "I'm currently in Boston and
I did a scan on Tuesday morning. The scan shows that the cancer is
in remission. Great news, but I'm trying not to get too excited
about it, as I heard that same phrase late last year - only to be
disappointed again a few months after when it returned."
The rocker confirmed he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma
last summer (13), but his cancer battle isn't keeping him from
playing and touring - he is continuing chemotherapy treatment in
between Def Leppard dates this summer (14).
And he adds, "The plan is to do a stem-cell transplant as soon as
the tour is finished. However, to keep me in remission, my doctors
have recommended that I do another, third round of the chemo, so
I'm back in hospital, all hooked up and doing my rock 'n' roll
drugs."
Def Leppard are currently on tour with KISS.
