David Beckham sparks Florida soccer club rumour
David Beckham is planning to start up a soccer team in Florida, according to reports.
The sports star announced his retirement from the game earlier this month (May13) but he was already eyeing up his next career move during a visit to Miami this week (ends31May13).
The Brit has an option from his former contract with Los Angeles
Galaxy to own a rival Major League Soccer (MLS) club, and his trip
to the Sunshine State has sparked rumours he wants to set up home
in Miami.
There is currently no MLS team in the state, so if Beckham decides
his future lies in Florida, he will be tasked with starting up a
club from scratch.
Britain's Daily Mail reports the sports icon is in talks with
Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure over a joint MLS project. He is
also said to be scouting other locations but is banned from
starting an MLS side in New York under the terms of his old
contract.
