David Beckham retires from soccer
David Beckham has announced his retirement from soccer.
The legendary former England international signed a five-month contract with French side Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in January (13) after leaving his high-profile role at Los Angeles Galaxy but has now decided to hang up his boots for good.
The midfielder, 38, started his professional career at Manchester
United in 1992 where he stayed for 11 years before moving to
Spanish giants Real Madrid prior to heading to the States four
years later (07).
Beckham made 115 appearances for his country, scoring 17 goals and
playing in three World Cup competitions.
He tells the Associated Press, "I'm thankful to PSG for giving me
the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to
finish my career playing at the highest level."
