Daisy Ridley to escort Princes William and Harry around Star Wars set
Prince William and his brother Prince Harry are to visit the set of Star Wars: Episode Viii on Tuesday (19Apr16).
The royal siblings will be escorted around Pinewood Studios, England, where the movie is currently being filmed by Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the science fiction franchise.
According to the BBC, William, who is President of the British
Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and Harry are also
expected to meet Star Wars actor Mark Hamill and the film's
director Rian Johnson.
"The Duke of Cambridge, President of @BAFTA, and Prince Harry will
visit the @starwars film set @PinewoodStudios tomorrow," a post on
Monday (18Apr16) from the official Twitter feed of royal residence
Kensington Palace read. "Their visit will recognise the wealth of
fantastic British creative talent involved in the production of the
@starwars films."
As well as meeting the stars of the films, the pair will also visit
the specialist teams producing props and costumes for the movie in
workshops at Pinewood.
The Star Wars studio tour will not be the first time the Princes
have graced the film set of an iconic franchise being filmed in
Britain, as in 2013 the brothers visited the set of Harry Potter
alongside William's wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
The set visit comes after a busy period for the elder Prince as he
returned from a tour of India and Bhutan with his wife over the
weekend (16-17Apr16).
There will be little let up in the Duke of Cambridge's hectic
schedule however, as his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II
celebrates her 90th birthday on Thursday (21Apr16).
A star-studded event is planned for 15 May (16) to mark the Queen's
milestone birthday, which will involve Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue,
Jess Glynne and another Star Wars actor, John Boyega.
