Christina Grimmie laid to rest - report
Christina Grimmie has reportedly been laid to rest in New Jersey.
The 22-year-old singer, who appeared on television talent show The Voice in 2014, was killed last week (10Jun16) when 27-year-old gunman Kevin James Loibl opened fire during a fan meet-and-greet following a concert in Orlando, Florida.
On Thursday (16Jun16), her close family and friends came together
for an "intimate gathering" to celebrate her life, according to
People.com. A public memorial will be held at the Fellowship
Alliance Chapel in Medford on Friday (17Jun16).
On Monday(13Jun16), a candlelight vigil was held in Evesham
Township to honor Christina.
"She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she
loved the Lord and she loved me and she was my baby sister," her
brother Marcus Grimmie said at the event.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Christina's The Voice
mentor, Adam Levine, had offered to pay for the funeral
expenses.
"I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my
mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight,
and I was blown away," Marcus wrote on Facebook. "Now a friend just
told me to look at the (crowd funded) gofundme page and I see it is
at 100k ($100,000). Words cannot express... literally I have no
words.
"I will read every one of these personalized messages. I'm so blown
away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And
Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten."
Christina was signing autographs after her concert at the Plaza
Live Theater when Loibl, armed with two guns, walked up and shot
her, before shooting himself as the star's brother Mark tackled
him. Christina was rushed to the Orlando Regional Medical Center,
where she was later pronounced dead.
