Chris Brown pleads guilty to assault
Troubled singer Chris Brown has escaped further jail time after pleading guilty to an assault charge.
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker appeared at a court in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday morning (02Sep14) and admitted beating up a man outside a hotel in the city last year (13).
Brown, who spent two months in prison earlier this year (14) for a
probation violation, was sentenced to time already served for the
misdemeanour assault charge and was fined $150. During the hearing
he apologised for his actions, telling the judge, "I'm sorry, I am
very sorry."
He walked free from court with his on/off girlfriend Karrueche Tran
by his side.
The singer's bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, was previously
convicted on an assault charge stemming from the attack.
Brown's court appearance on Tuesday marked the third time officials
had attempted to resolve the case with the star. He missed a
previous plea hearing scheduled for Friday (29Aug14) due to travel
difficulties.
