Chris Brown facing prison return over club shooting
Chris Brown is in big trouble again - his probation has been revoked because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Prosecutors in Los Angeles want Brown to return to prison after he was present at two separate nightclubs when people inside were shot recently.
At a probation progress report on Thursday (15Jan15), the R&B
singer was reprimanded for performing at one of the clubs, in San
Jose, California, last weekend (11Jan15) without getting the
necessary court permission to leave Los Angeles County.
Shots rang out at the venue while Brown was onstage and five people
were injured.
The judge overseeing the case insisted there is no evidence to
suggest Brown was responsible for the shooting incident, but the
prosecution officials fear that "people will get shot or seriously
injured" when the singer "performs or attends" public events,
adding he has shown "a pattern of making choices that are
counterproductive".
Brown will return to court on 20 March (15) for a formal hearing.
If the judge determines he "willfully" violated probation, he could
be heading back to prison, where he spent time last year (14),
reports TMZ.com.
The singer is still on probation for a 2009 assault conviction.
Meanwhile, the owner of the San Jose club, where last weekend's
shooting incident took place, has lost his entertainment permit.
State regulators have also suspended Fiesta Nightclub's liquor
license for 60 days.
