Charlie Sheen: 'I would have fired myself too'

A reflective Charlie Sheen can understand why TV bosses fired him from his hit sitcom Two And A Half Men, conceding he would have done the same if he was in charge.

The troubled actor was axed from the TV comedy in February (11) after months of highly publicised bad behaviour and a feud with the show's creator, Chuck Lorre.

The following month (Mar11), Charlie Sheen filed a $100 million lawsuit against Lorre, demanding compensation for the eight episodes producers scrapped as a result of the fall-out.

However, a clean and sober Charlie Sheen is now taking responsibility for his own actions so he can move on from all the bad blood.

During an appearance on programme The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday (15Sep11), he said, "I'd have fired my a** too. Well maybe not like they did... It was bad. And I own my part in that. And I just want to make everything right... I should have been a little more responsible about the condition I was showing up (to work) in but, you know, I was hitting my marks, I was delivering, but maybe at a sub-par level. But that's alright... It is what it is, and I'm just moving forward."

The legal battle between Charlie Sheen and the show's producers is still ongoing, but he insists his attempts to make amends with TV bosses have been ignored.

Sheen added, "I tried (to talk to them), and I couldn't get a return phone call. Again, I don't think I would have returned my phone call (if I were them)."

And Charlie Sheen is adamant there is no animosity between him and his former castmates - he genuinely hopes the show will be a success with Ashton Kutcher as its new leading man: "Seriously. It's hard to give advice to a guy that accomplished. I would just give him a hug and just say, 'Make me proud dude.'"

Charlie Sheen even joked he'd be open to returning to the sitcom as a guest star and reiterated his desire to make a cameo in Two and a Half Men in a separate interview with breakfast show Today on Friday (16Sep11).

Asked about the possibility, he replied, "Oh, absolutely, if they (the producers) wanted or needed or thought that was a good idea, I'm completely on board for that."
