Charlie Puth: 'I'm single'

Singer Charlie Puth is taking a break from dating after splitting from his girlfriend.

The 24 year old pop star, who landed a 2016 Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song for his track See You Again with rapper Wiz Khalifa, was rumoured to be dating fellow singer Selena Gomez in recent months.

He was also linked to Meghan Trainor after the duo locked lips onstage while performing their duet Marvin Gaye at the American Music Awards in November (15), but Charlie insisted they were just friends and he was involved with somebody else.

Charlie now admits the romance is over and he plans to take a break from the dating scene, telling Britain's The Sun newspaper, "I'm single. I thought it was going to work out. Now I'm like, 'Nope, she wants to use me to up her social standing'... I'm going to take a break from dating."

The singer insists he is not a flashy star and prefers the simple lifestyle, adding, "I have no idea why people think they're going to get something out of me by just being seen with me... You're going to get Rice Krispies in the morning."

He sparked gossip about a romance with Selena after they posted a video on the Snapchat app after the Golden Globes earlier this month (Jan16), but she denied the rumours telling Eonline.com, "We're not (dating), that's for sure."

She is reportedly dating model and fashion executive Samuel Krost and they were pictured holding hands while leaving a Beverly Hills hotel together this week (beg18Jan16).
