Channing Tatum: 'Dancing with Beyonce was terrifying'
Hollywood actor Channing Tatum has described his performance with Beyonce on Lip Sync Battle as the "the most terrifying thing" he has ever done.
The Magic Mike star surprised fans by dressing up as the pop star and then performing alongside her to the singer's track Run the World (Girls) during an episode of the show which aired earlier this month (Jan16) and also featured the actor's wife Jenna Dewan Tatum.
Channing has now revealed he bombarded the pop star and her
assistant with text messages to persuade her to join him onstage,
but he never expected her to agree and had planned to dance
alongside a cardboard cut-out instead.
He was then crippled with nerves when Beyonce agreed to take
part.
"I had never met her before. I won't even tell you what I had to do
to essentially get her assistant's phone number. Or text her, I was
texting her (sic)," he declared during an appearance on The Ellen
DeGeneres Show. "I didn't even have the intention of her coming
(sic). It was a whole ploy to get permission to do something cause
I had gotten it through the grapevine that Jenna was gonna bring
out Paula (Abdul) and I was like hmm who can I bring out, I know
Beyonce's not gonna come so I wanted to bring like a cardboard cut
out of Beyonce out just to be funny and then ultimately I ended up
having to meet Beyonce doing Beyonce and that was definitely the
most terrifying thing I've ever done."
During the show, Jenna turned the tables on her husband by giving
him a sexy lap dance while performing to Ginuwine's track Pony.
Jenna and Channing, a former male stripper who used his exotic
dancing past as inspiration for the Magic Mike movies, appeared as
part of a couples special edition of the program, hosted by
rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J.
He also donned a full Disney princess costume to mime along to
Edina Menzel's Frozen hit Let It Go.
The couple met on the set of 2006 dance film Step Up and they
married in 2009. The welcomed a daughter named Everly in 2013.
