Chance the Rapper to honor Muhammad Ali at the ESPY Awards
Chance The Rapper is set to pay tribute to boxing great Muhammad Ali at the 2016 ESPY Awards on Wednesday (13Jul16).
The No Problem star revealed on Twitter that he would be part of a special tribute to the late boxer and activist, who died on 3 June (16) aged 74, at the annual sports awards ceremony.
He shared a picture showing him singing into a microphone
suspending from the ceiling as he rehearsed on the EPSYS stage. In
the caption, he writes, “I am honored to say I will be a part of a
special tribute to the great Muhammad Ali at tomorrow nights
#ESPYS.”
Further details on the tribute segment have not been revealed.
It was recently announced that Justin Timberlake, who hosted the
show in 2008, would be returning to present the Icon Award to a
trio of retiring athletes - basketball icon Kobe Bryant, footballer
Peyton Manning and soccer star Abby Wambach. They are being honored
in recognition of "the indelible mark they have made on the world
of sports."
Usher and Zendaya, actor David Oyelowo and basketball stars Stephen
Curry and Dwyane Wade are all set to present during the show, which
takes place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Wrestler/actor John Cena will serve as host.
