Carly Rae Jepsen ties Gotye with eight weeks on top in U.S.

Carly Rae Jepsen has matched Gotye for the longest reign at number one on the singles chart in 2012 after landing an eighth week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with Call Me Maybe.


Between them, the teen pop sensation and the Australian singer/songwriter have scored more weeks at number one than all other chart-toppers in 2012 combined.


Meanwhile, Katy Perry has ended Maroon 5's run at number two - her Wide Awake rises a spot on the new countdown.


Maroon 5's Payphone drops to three, while Flo Rida's Whistle jumps up to four and Ellie Goulding's Lights rounds out the new top five.
