Carly Rae Jepsen lands U.K. number one
Carly Rae Jepsen, the Canadian singer who scooped a record deal thanks to Justin Bieber, has shot to the top of the U.K. singles chart.
Former Canadian Idol runner-up Carly Rae Jepsen has landed the number one spot in Britain with Call Me Maybe after a video of Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez dancing to the track went viral.
Justin Bieber gave Carly Rae Jepsen a boost by inviting her to join
his manager Scooter Braun's Schoolboy Records in February (12).
Elsewhere in the singles chart, Sean Paul was at two with She
Doesn't Mind, while dance star Gotye rose two places to three with
Somebody That I Used To Know.
In fourth place was Nicki Minaj with Starships, while former number
one Turn Up The Music by Chris Brown, rounded out the new top
five.
In the album chart, Nicki Minaj makes another appearance after her
record Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded debuted at number one.
The other top five albums are Labrinth (Electronic Earth), Adele
(21), Moshi Monsters (Music Box) and Emeli Sande (Our Version of
Events).
