Calvin Harris pulls out of MTV EMAs performance
Scottish DJ Calvin Harris has canceled his performance at the MTV European Music Awards (EMA) on Sunday (09Nov14) due to "heart problems".
The Summer hitmaker was scheduled to open the ceremony in Glasgow, Scotland with British singer John Newman on their collaboration Blame, but organizers have announced Harris has withdrawn due to illness.
A statement posted on Facebook.com, reads, "We have some really sad
news. Calvin Harris has taken ill and will not be able to perform
at tomorrow's show... He sends his sincere apologies. Get well
soon, Calvin!"
Harris also wrote on Twitter.com, "No EMAs for me this weekend. Got
some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed."
The tweet was deleted shortly after it was posted.
According to Britain's The Sun on Sunday newspaper, U.K. presenter
Sarah-Jane Crawford will DJ in his place.
Other performers at the ceremony, hosted by Nicki Minaj, include
Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, U2 and Enrique Iglesias.
