Bruno Mars: 'The music industry needs Kanye West'
Bruno Mars doesn't hold a grudge against Kanye West for slamming him back in 2013.
The 39-year-old rapper revealed his true feelings about the Grenade singer shortly after Bruno's success at the MTV Video Music Awards that year, when he performed and took home two gongs, including Best Male Video.
Taking to the stage in Brooklyn, New York, Kanye told the audience:
"I'm watching Drake perform, I see Bruno Mars perform. And then
they start giving out awards and s**t, and Bruno Mars won all the
motherf***ing awards! Can't no motherf***ing networks try to gas
everybody up so they can sell some product with the prettiest
motherf***er out?"
However, Bruno insists in a new interview with Rolling Stone
magazine that he didn't take offence to Kanye's remarks.
"It's Kanye - bottom line, at the end of the day, we need Kanye,"
he told the publication. "But what he said wasn't a sting. You can
come at me all you want - I've set myself up for that. But I am my
own biggest critic."
Kanye is known for not holding back when it comes to his
controversial views. But Locked Out of Heaven singer Bruno admits
he heard from the rapper shortly after the rant.
“But me and him, we’re cool,” he added. "He called me and
apologised."
Throughout his career, Bruno has teamed up with some of the biggest
names in the music industry, including Adele and Beyonce. He and
Queen Bey performed together with Coldplay at the Super Bowl
earlier this year (16), and the experience was a once in a lifetime
one for Bruno.
"She's not f**king joking around," Bruno said of Beyonce. "She's
going to get onstage and show everybody why she's the best every
single time. She's got that monster in her!"
