Bruno Mars confirms Super Bowl appearance

Singer Bruno Mars will definitely grace the stage during Super Bowl 50, with the star having confirmed months of rumors on his Instagram page Friday (5Feb16).

The halftime show for the football event, which takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, has an all-star lineup, with British band Coldplay serving as the leading act and Beyonce also making an appearance.

Billionaire hitmaker Mars, 30, promises fans he is committed to heating up the show with his performance, writing on Instagram in a caption attached to an image of himself standing before the stage: "It ain't a party if Mr $how Up & $how out doesn't show up."

He added in a later post, "Mars Has Landed".

This will be Mars' second time at the halftime show, as he was the main act for Super Bowl 48 in 2014.

Viewers of Super Bowl 50 will be exposed to sensational performances from the beginning to the very end of the program, as pop star Lady Gaga is kicking off the event by singing the National Anthem.

Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, told reporters during a press conference on Thursday (4Feb16) he and his bandmates are putting forth their best efforts to make the halftime show memorable this year.

"One of our favorite places to play in the world is a place called Glastonbury festival, which is a big music festival that happens in England," Martin explained. "It's full of color and pageantry, and it's an amazing sort of spiritual home of music in England.

"We wanted to bring that sort of vibe to the Super Bowl halftime show. We can't compete with amazing dance routines and all of that. We have to try to do what comes naturally to us, which is to try and provide a bit of fun and a great atmosphere for people to come and be together and be communal and enjoy the general experience."

Super Bowl 50, which sees National Football League teams the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos battle it out on the field for the trophy, begins at 3:30pm Pacific Standard Time on Sunday (7Feb16).
