Britney Spears' fame doesn't prevent 'awkward' dates
Fame hasn't protected Britney Spears from a series of "awkward" dates.
The single mum-of-two has had a number of high-profile relationships over the years, but in between, Britney admits there were a number of uncomfortable outings with potential suitors that didn't exactly go the way she had hoped.
Remembering one of the more unpleasant instances to Marie Claire
UK, the Toxic singer recalls, "I had a really bad date. I mean, it
was bad. I've been single for ages and had a date with a guy I
liked. I was getting anxious, worrying he wouldn't like me. We went
to the movies, but I could tell right away it wasn't working. It
was sort of awkward."
The 34-year-old insists her celebrity status doesn't mean she's
exempt from the natural feeling of being mismatched with a
mate.
"After the movie I came home and that was it," she adds. "It just
didn't work. He just wasn't that into me. I liked him. He knew
that. But he definitely didn't feel the same (way). It happens to
everybody. Being famous doesn't make you any different."
The Louisiana native also tells the publication she felt that
similar anxiety years ago when she moved to Los Angeles for the
first time to start her career in showbusiness.
"Southern girls can be very hard on themselves because you are
expected to act in a certain way, you are expected to please
people," Britney explains. "And then I moved to Los Angeles when I
was very young. I was so under scrutiny. If a hair was out of
place, I'd be so anxious. I would get very anxious about so many
things."
