Britney Spears 'comeback' album inspired by Selena Gomez
Britney Spears paid tribute to singer Selena Gomez for being an inspiration.
The 34-year-old released her ninth album last month (Aug16), and dismissed claims she has made a 'comeback' to music. "I don't really see it as a comeback. I've been here for a really long time," she quipped.
Britney, who performed for the first time in five years in the U.K.
on Tuesday (27Sep16), also confessed Glory was inspired by Selena
Gomez's recent Revival tour.
"I just love her music. I think she's really great. So I was
really, really inspired by her work," Britney said of the Hands to
Myself hitmaker.
The mother-of-two wowed the crowd at the Apple Music Festival in
London, performing hits including Baby One More Time and Oops!.. I
Did it Again at the Roundhouse music venue on Tuesday. The
star-studded crowd, which included Rita Ora, Radio 1 DJ Nick
Grimshaw and model Daisy Lowe, were treated to a high-energy show
from the pop queen, who narrowly avoided an embarrassing fall
on-stage after performing a back-flip.
The gig comes a month after Britney released her ninth studio
album, and she wanted to make her latest musical offering really
different.
"I feel like it's been a while since I brought new music to the
table," she explained. "I didn't want to do a typical pop record
for this. I wanted to do something really different."
Britney, who is currently at the helm of a hugely successful Las
Vegas residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort, also revealed who
would be her dream musical collaborator.
"I love Steven Tyler; he's great. He's like rock'n'roll man, like
just crazy cool. I think he exudes sex and electricity and you're
just like a magnet when you get next to him," she said.
"I would love to work with Lenny Kravitz. I think he's great; he's
a legend," Britney added.
