Brigitte Nielsen: 'No cause for alarm after boozy weekend relapse'
Fallen actress Brigitte Nielsen has spoken out about her battle with booze after she was photographed clutching a bottle of vodka during an apparent meltdown in a California park at the weekend.
Sylvester Stallone's former wife insists there is "no cause for alarm" after bystanders in Beverly Hills watched as she staggered around the park, fell over and appeared to pass out.
Nielsen says, "Looking at (the) pictures I can understand the level
of worrying, but I can assure everyone that there is no cause for
alarm.
"I have been on the road working non-stop for such a long time,
fulfilling my professional commitments, shooting shows around the
world with all the pressure that comes with it... That combined
with major health issues in my family drove me to the unfortunate
circumstances that you can see on the pictures.
"At that moment in time, I felt like I needed a moment to myself,
in a park. The vodka came about as a desperate move to try to
release some pressure and is under no circumstances an indication
of how I lead my life on a day to day basis."
She tells news show Entertainment Tonight, "It's a very sad
situation but, you know, a relapse can happen... Life goes on and
you have to press on, learn from your mistakes, deal with the
issue."
The Red Sonja and Rocky IV star has battled a drinking problem for
well over a decade and appeared on the first season of TV
counsellor Dr. Drew Pinsky's Celebrity Rehab show in 2008 and 2009.
She reveals Dr. Drew has been in touch with her and invited her
back to his Pasadena, California treatment centre.
