Brie Larson's Short Term 12 is big winner at SXSW
Actress Brie Larson's drama Short Term 12 was the big winner at the 2013 South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas after taking home two of the event's top prizes.
The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, follows the 21 Jump Street star as a staffer at a foster care facility, and it was a big hit with fans and critics alike - the film received the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for Narrative Feature.
The Short Game, which features tennis star Anna Kournikova's
younger brother Allan learning to play golf, won the Audience Award
for Documentary Feature, and Apollo 13 scriptwriter Al Reinert's An
Unreal Dream: The Michael Morton Story, about a wrongful murder
conviction, earned an accolade as the Documentary Spotlight
winner.
In addition, Oscar-nominated Lucy Walker's The Crash Reel, which
showcases the rivalry between snowboarding champions Shaun White
and Kevin Pearce, landed the Festival Favorites trophy.
