Bradley Cooper marks 38th birthday with movie award

Actor Bradley Cooper had double the reason to celebrate on Saturday (05Jan13) after he was honored at California's Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala on his 38th birthday.

Fans sang Happy Birthday to The Hangover star, who recently split from his on/off girlfriend Zoe Saldana, as he signed autographs and posed for photos with devotees outside the annual awards ceremony, and he was later presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Actor honor by his Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell.

Meanwhile, fellow prizewinners at the event included Naomi Watts, who landed the female equivalent of Desert Palm Achievement prize, Richard Gere received the coveted Chairman's Award, Helen Hunt was given the Spotlight Award, and Sally Field was handed the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off on Thursday (03Jan13) and runs until 14 January (13).
