Brad Pitt: 'I should be more careful with what I say'

Written by . Published: September 22 2011

Brad Pitt refuses to let media spin on comments he makes upset him anymore - because once a year he puts his foot in his mouth and says something he regrets.

Making light of recent remarks he made in an interview with Parade magazine about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, Pitt insists he never meant to suggest the union was dull - but he was.

He told the publication he wasn't living an "interesting life" during his five-year marriage and tabloids pounced on the comments, suggesting the movie star was attacking his ex.

Pitt has since released a statement insisting his remarks were wrongly interpreted.

He said, "It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for."

But in a taped TV interview, which will air on breakfast show Today on Thursday (22Sep11), Pitt admits he's prone to saying things he shouldn't in interviews.

He tells TV host Matt Lauer, "It's always been a part of the territory. I've got a knack for stepping into s**t... I do it every year or so and it's OK.

"But I don't wanna live on guard and I guess I should be more on guard I guess."
