Beyonce's stylist found 2012 Met Gala gown on morning of the event
Beyonce once gave her stylist less than 24 hours to find her a dress for New York City's prestigious Met Gala.
The superstar has become known for her show-stopping looks at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art ball, but while most celebrity attendees spend months planning their gowns for fashion's big night, the Halo hitmaker's longtime style guru Ty Hunter reveals he had to think quickly ahead of the 2012 bash, formally known as the Costume Institute Gala.
"It was Met Gala, and Beyonce decided that day that she wanted to go," he recalled to E! News. "It was like, 'If we can, we go. If we can't, we won't.'"
At the time, Beyonce and her team had been preparing for her four-night residency at the now-shuttered Revel resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Ty managed to source a long-sleeved, embellished black gown with sheer panels and a purple feathered train from one of her favored fashion houses, Givenchy.
"Thank god Givenchy made a dress for her for a prior event that we didn't use," he smiled.
Of the outfit itself, Ty said, "It was kind of the beginning of the illusion dress. It fit perfect (sic). The dress didn't really need anything else."
He was also lucky to have celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz on speed dial to provide Beyonce's diamond accessories, admitting she "always seems to have what we need".
Ty, who is typically photographed at the high-profile gala ensuring Beyonce looks her best for the cameras, currently has no plans to attend the 2017 bash, which takes place on Monday (01May17), as the singer, who is pregnant with twins, has been spending time at her home in Los Angeles.
However, the Met Gala is sure to be a star-studded affair, with Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her husband Tom Brady serving as co-chairs on this year's (17) Met Gala committee, alongside Vogue boss Anna Wintour.
