Beyonce's father has discovered twins run in his family, weeks after the superstar welcomed a pair of fraternal babies.

Mathew Knowles, who previously served as his superstar daughter's manager, has been digging into his family history for a forthcoming book project, and he was surprised to learn his new grandchildren are not the first set of twins in the Knowles' timeline.

"In the research that was done for (my new) book, I was able to learn about my heritage, my family, and going back to my great, great grandmother," he explained in a video post on Instagram.

"I was also learning that my grandmother, Hester, actually had brothers that were twins: Sidney Moore and Gitney Moore!"

He added, "You can see that the twins started in our ancestry, and Beyonce should be proud of that."

Mathew captioned the footage, "Did you know that TWINS run in our family??? I didn't! I'll be sharing more about my ancestry in a new book very soon."

The Halo hitmaker has yet to publicly comment on the news. She has been laying low since giving birth in mid-June (17).

Reports suggest she and husband JAY-Z welcomed boy and girl twins, who have allegedly been named Sir and Rumi Carter, according to recently-filed court documents seeking to trademark the monikers.

Beyonce and JAY-Z, real name Shawn Carter, have not made an official announcement about the latest additions to their growing family, but Mathew took it upon himself to celebrate the news with his Instagram followers on 17 June (17).

"They're here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday," he wrote alongside a picture of balloons with the message, "Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad."

The tots are siblings for the couple's five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
