Beyonce pays tribute to Shawty Lo during gig
Beyonce has paid tribute to late rapper Shawty Lo, who was killed in a car accident last week (ends25Sep16).
The former D4L star, real name Carlos Walker, was killed on 21 September (16) when he lost control of his white Audi and crashed over a guardrail on a highway in Atlanta, Georgia.
Walker's car hit a number of trees before bursting into flames,
according to a Fulton County police representative. He reportedly
died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Performing on her Formation World Tour in Atlanta on Monday
(26Sep16), Beyonce touchingly paid tribute to the city's recently
deceased rapper.
Pausing her gig at the Georgia Dome, she performed a routine with
her back-up dancers to Shawty Lo's hit 2008 Dey Know, sending the
crowd wild.
A representative for the rapper, who is still running his Twitter
account, retweeted the video and wrote, "Thank you @Beyonce
#longlivelo," with a crown and a love heart emoji.
The tour stop was a star-studded affair, with pictures from
backstage showing DJ Khaled, Young Thug, T.I., Ludacris, Jeezy and
Migos.
Shawty Lo was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash
last week, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two female
passengers were hospitalized and treated for non life-threatening
injuries, according to local news station WSB-TV.
Following the accident an autopsy was performed and preliminary
tests indicated the 40-year-old was not under the influence of
alcohol. According to Bossip.com, medical examiners did not test
for drugs because the case was closed and no one was charged.
"It's a waste of effort," Fulton County Medical Examiner
Investigator Betty Honey said. "Even if he was drunk or high, the
outcome was still the same."
