Beyonce and Jay Z top Billboard's Power 100 list
Music super couple Beyonce and Jay Z have shared the top spot on Billboard magazine's Power 100 list.
The pop superstar and her rapper husband have been named the most influential players in the music industry by editors at the publication.
After analysing market share, revenue and other data, Beyonce and
Jay Z, who have each founded their own companies, Roc Nation and
Parkwood Entertainment, fended off other industry powerhouses for
the number one spot.
Jay Z's longtime associate, Lyor Cohen, who came in at number 74 on
the Power 100 list, tells the music publication, "Artists have
always had the power but courage is in short supply. It's just that
the hip-hop generation believes in the possibilities. Jay and
Beyonce don't listen to the noise - they make the noise."
Lucian Grange, president of Universal Music Group Lucian Grange,
came in at number two after holding the number one position last
year (13), while Tim McGraw and Alicia Keys' manager Coran Capshaw
ranked at number three.
The full list of Billboard's third annual Power 100 list was
unveiled Thursday night (23Jan14) at a gala in Los Angeles.
