Avengers: Age of Ultron hold strong for record sophomore weekend
Avengers: Age Of Ultron has tied with The Dark Knight to become the second fastest film to rake in more than $300 million in North America in just 10 days.
The Marvel superhero blockbuster holds strong at number one during Mother's Day weekend (08-10May15), adding another $77.2 million in its second week on release, lifting the film's domestic total to $312.9 million .
The impressive take places it level with Batman Begins follow-up
The Dark Knight, which also hit the same milestone in 10 days, just
behind 2012's The Avengers, which achieved the feat in nine
days.
Age of Ultron added another $68 million in international markets,
boosting its global total to $875.3 million .
Meanwhile, back in the box office, Reese Witherspoon and Sofia
Vergara's comedy Hot Pursuit is a new entry at two, trailing with a
disappointing $13.3 million .
Blake Lively's The Age of Adaline slips to three, while Furious 7
and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 round out the new top five.
