Ashton Kutcher encourages fans to write to dying child

Actor Ashton Kutcher has shown off his caring side by urging his fans on Twitter.com to send birthday cards to a dying child.

In a post on his website, Kutcher shared the story of five-year-old Danny Nickerson, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour last October (13) and had to leave kindergarten to undergo radiation treatments and chemotherapy.

Kutcher was so moved by the tragic tale that he is appealing to his followers on the microblogging website to send the little boy some birthday cards when he turns six years old on Friday (25Jul14).

Nickerson's mother tells ABC News that her son loves receiving mail and has recently learned to recognise his own name.

Kutcher posted a link to the article on Twitter, alongside the caption, "This 5 Year Old Has Terminal Cancer And He Loves Mail. Let's Fill His P.O. Box!"
