Pop star Ariana Grande and rapper Big Sean have split.

The couple dated for eight months and now a representative for the singer has confirmed break-up reports to Billboard.com.

The spokesman says, "They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends. We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time."

A source tells Us Weekly magazine the couple parted ways "a few weeks ago".
