Anna Kendrick: 'I don't care if people think my movies aren't cool'

Anna Kendrick doesn't care if people think her musical movies are lame.

The 31-year-old actress has won critical-acclaim by showing off her impressive singing voice - alongside her great acting skills - in movies including Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Pitch Perfect and Into The Woods.

And Anna said she will carry on singing, even if people think the musical movies aren't cool. "(I will be singing) all the time. Cannot be stopped. Bring on an army, I will still be singing!" she told InStyle magazine.

"I don’t worry about whether or not people think my movies are cool. If people think musicals are lame, it’s hard to change that. It’s hard to disestablish something as being lame," Anna shared.

The actress has scored a cult following on social media, thanks to her acerbic humor on Twitter. "I like my men like I like my coffee. Silent," she joked in a tweet, and later floored fans with, "I'm so humble it's crazy. I'm like the Kanye West of humility."

But when asked if she feels pressure to be funny, Anna revealed she's far from the funnywoman she portrays on screen. "I’m unstoppably awkward. That’s why I’m so bad in the post office. Am I in the wrong line? Did I fill out the wrong thing? I practise what I’m going to say before I go in," she joked.

On a more serious note, Anna shared her thoughts on how turning 30 last year (15) helped her to become more confident. "There’s no such thing as a 30-year-old girl. Maybe a 28-year-old girl, but not 30. There’s a security in that, which is incredibly arbitrary and stupid," she explained.

"But as someone who can be in a room with people who don’t take me seriously as often as I would like, it’s nice to be able to tell them: “I believe the term is ‘woman’ now'... something about turning 30 makes you feel one step closer to being assured in your own feelings. Wow. I feel really strong," she added.

The actress has had a busy year so far, with Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and The Hollars already big hits at the box office, while Dreamworks animation Trolls and thriller The Accountant are set to be released later this year.

Lots of movies means lots of premieres, with Anna expected to be dressed to impress in designer gowns. However, she confesses to wishing she was more confident in wearing what she wanted to wear on the red carpet.

"My crew try to do all-day fittings, like a giant outfits marathon. I wish I had the (courage) to be Chloë Sevigny and not give a (care) what E! News thinks. When I try on a Marni dress, I love it and then go, “But I’m just gonna get assassinated if I wear that…” she joked.

The Accountant, also starring Ben Affleck, will be released in October (16), while Trolls will hit cinemas in November.
