Anna Camp returning for Pitch Perfect 3
Anna Camp has signed on to appear in Pitch Perfect 3.
The 34-year-old actress starred as Aubrey Posen in 2012's Pitch Perfect and its 2015 sequel. Now she will be reprising the role for a third time, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
She will be joined by Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Hailee
Steinfeld, who will be returning as Beca, Fat Amy and Emily
respectively.
The plot of the film has yet to be revealed, but it will no doubt
follow in the footsteps of its predecessors by telling the tale of
a cappella singing group The Barden Bellas.
A third installment in the music comedy franchise was confirmed
earlier this year (16), after the huge success of the sequel, which
had the highest-grossing opening of a movie musical of all time,
earning $287.5 million at the worldwide box office.
Camp previously spoke about her hopes for a third film, saying
during an interview with Glamour.com in August, 2014: "You never
know. I think so. They have Hailee Steinfeld now as the newest
Bella, and she's a freshman. So if they wanted to take it further,
they definitely have a very talented woman in place."
Elizabeth Banks helmed Pitch Perfect 2, as well as starring in the
film, but dropped out of directing the third tale. It has since
been confirmed that Trish Sie has taken over the director role.
Banks, who is one of the producers and stars of the franchise, made
the big reveal last month (Sep16) via Twitter, posting a photo of
herself and Sie together and adding the caption: "#PitchPerfect has
a new leader - so excited @bigbadtrish is directing #PP3!"
Sie only has one film to her credit as a director, but she is also
a choreographer and was one of the brains behind rock group Ok Go's
recent Upside Down & Inside Out video, which was shot in zero
gravity. She also helped come up with the concept for the band's
breakout promo Here it Goes Again, in which the quartet performed
on moving treadmills.
Pitch Perfect 3 is due for release on 22 December, 2017.
