Angelina Jolie honoured by Queen Elizabeth II
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie was made an honorary dame by Queen Elizabeth II during a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London on Friday (10Oct14).
The accolade was announced in June (14) in the Birthday Honours List for Jolie's services to U.K. foreign policy and her campaign against sexual violence in war zones.
Jolie was pictured bowing in front of the British monarch and
taking her hand as she received the insignia of the Honorary Dame
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St
George.
She attended with her husband Brad Pitt and the couple's
children.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace says, "Ms Angelina Jolie was
received by The Queen today when Her Majesty presented her with the
Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished
Order of St Michael and St George... The audience itself between
Miss Jolie and the Queen was private. Her Majesty presented her
with the insignia in its box. Mr Pitt and the rest of the family
were introduced to the Queen afterwards, however."
