Amber Heard confirms Aquaman role
Actress Amber Heard is joining the DC Comics universe by starring in forthcoming film Aquaman.
The 29-year-old has been attached to the project since January (16), but has remained silent on the casting until confirming her role with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday (17Mar16).
Plot details are largely under wraps at this time, but Heard did
reveal she will be depicting queen Mera, who is the wife of titular
character Aquaman, played by Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa.
Although she did not divulge on what scenes are included in the
script for the film, Heard did provide insight into the elaborate
costume she is wearing.
"It's interesting," she said of Mera's look. "It's like, half suit
of armor, half scales. It's strange... We're in the process of
building it now, so it's coming along."
Heard will be depicting the royal undersea persona in more than one
film, as in addition to starring in director James Wan's 2018
release Aquaman, she plays Mera in The Justice League Part One,
which is scheduled to reach theaters in 2017.
Heard will most likely be ready to perform stunts in Aquaman action
sequences due to the intense training she undertook for 2015
biographical drama The Danish Girl, in which she depicted
professional ballet star Ulla.
"I trained forever and I have two left feet," the stunning blonde
told talk show host James Corden in December (15) about how she
prepped for the physically taxing role. "I'm the most klutzy person
in the world. I have no – what do you call it? Grace. I crammed
about three months of solid training in, working my way up from the
floor and learning the technical aspect of ballet. I've got these
dances down, technically perfect. I'm learning all the moves, but
the last thing we get to are the hands."
