Amanda Bynes' parents granted temporary conservatorship
Amanda Bynes' parents have been granted a temporary conservatorship over the troubled actress as she continues to receive treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
The Easy A star's mom, Lynn, and father, Rick, won their bid to take over control of Bynes' legal affairs and finances in a California court on Friday (09Aug13).
The conservatorship will remain in place until 30 September (13),
when a judge will decide if the arrangement will be made permanent,
reports TMZ.com.
During Friday's court proceedings, which Bynes did not attend, the
judge also approved doctors' request to keep the 27 year old under
medical supervision for another 30 days, despite opposition from
her lawyer.
Bynes was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold last month
(Jul13) after allegedly starting a small fire on a driveway in her
parents' neighborhood of Thousand Oaks, California. The 72-hour
hospitalisation, also known as a 5150 hold, was previously extended
to two weeks and now the embattled star must remain under doctors'
care until September (13).
The court development is the latest in a string of woes for the
actress - she is facing a charge of driving under the influence
after allegedly crashing her car into a police vehicle last year
(12), and a further accusation of driving on a suspended license
just months later.
She is also facing counts of reckless endangerment, tampering with
evidence and possessing marijuana after reportedly throwing a bong
out of her New York apartment window during a police raid in May
(13).
