Amanda Bynes accused of shoplifting in New York
Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has been banned from top Manhattan department store Barneys New York after she was allegedly caught stealing a hat during a visit on Wednesday (08Oct14).
The Hairspray star was detained by security guards after she reportedly attempted to walk out of the store without paying for a $200 hat she had placed on her head.
According to TMZ.com, Bynes told the guards she didn't mean to
steal anything and had grabbed the hat in a bid to disguise herself
after being chased by fans inside Barneys.
Police were called to the scene, but the actress had already been
allowed to leave by the time cops arrived.
However, the 28 year old won't be welcome back at the store anytime
soon - she had to sign a no-trespass agreement before security
officials agreed to let her walk.
The incident took place just two days after Bynes was accused of
lashing out at a fan while partying at a nightclub in the Big Apple
on Monday (06Oct14). Reports suggest the embattled star lost her
temper after realizing she was being photographed by curious
revelers.
Bynes, whose erratic behavior last year (13) led to lengthy stint
in rehab, returned to Manhattan last week (ends03Oct14), days after
she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of
drugs in California last month (Sep14).
