Alison Pill's The Newsroom co-star helped with engagement

Actress Alison Pill's The Newsroom co-star Tom Sadoski played an important role in her recent engagement by secretly filming the entire proposal.

The actress announced her betrothal to actor beau Joshua Leonard earlier this month (Jan15) by showing off her sparkling diamond ring on Instagram.com.

She recently revealed to Us Weekly that Sadoski, who played her on-screen ex-boyfriend on the acclaimed drama, had a hand in the surprise proposal.

Pill says, "I had been on a rocky mountain top in Joshua Tree (National Park in California), and Tommy Sadoski, who is like my older brother... documented with his camera the entire thing...

"It was pretty amazing. I thought we were about to take a picture when he (Leonard) said, 'Tommy let's do this!' I was like, 'Alright let's... What? What?' And unbeknownst to me he had already cleared it with my parents!"

Pill was previously engaged to actor Jay Baruchel, but they split in 2013.
