Alanis Morissette's pregnancy delayed work on new album

Written by . Published: September 08 2012

Singer Alanis Morissette had to postpone plans to write new material for her latest album during her pregnancy because impending motherhood left her constantly exhausted.

The Ironic hitmaker admits work on Havoc and Bright Lights stalled during the nine months she was carrying her son Ever, and it wasn't until after she gave birth in 2010 that she was able to turn her ideas into actual songs.

She tells People magazine, "I was dying to write while I was pregnant, but I was down for the count every day by 4pm. Growing a human being took everything I had."

Morissette released the disc last month (Aug12) and it debuted in the Billboard chart at number five.
