Adele's San Jose shopping trip was a disaster
Singer Adele was left red-faced when her credit card was declined at an H&M store in California.
The superstar, who has an estimated net worth of $112 million , went shopping ahead of her gig in San Jose on Sunday (31Jul16), but she left the fashion outlet empty handed after her transaction was canceled.
According to U.K. newspaper the Daily Mirror, Adele told fans at
her Bay Area gig she felt more than a little humiliated, noting: "I
went to H&M and my card got declined. Oh my days, pretty
embarrassing. Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
And that wasn't the only thing that left the Rolling in the Deep
hitmaker glad she was incognito during her shopping trip - her
furry companion Louie, a scrappy little dachshund, got into a minor
altercation with another pet.
"My dog tried to claw another dog," she told the crowd before
sarcastically quipping, "My trip to H&M was great... but no one
knew it was me, so I think I’m going to get away with it."
While performing concerts across the U.S. as part of her Adele Live
2016 tour, the singer has developed a love for stopping at
affordable clothing outlets such as H&M and Target, choosing to
shop without makeup and dressing down to avoid fans.
Although she is touted as one of the richest female British
musicians in history, Adele has always been a sucker for a good
bargain.
"I used to shop at (U.K. discount retailer) Primark for my knickers
all the time," she said earlier this year. "I loved going there and
getting some bargains."
