Adam Shankman enters rehab
Hairspray director Adam Shankman has checked into rehab.
The 49-year-old filmmaker has decided to undergo professional treatment for an undisclosed problem, his representative confirms to Us Weekly.
A statement from his spokesperson reads, "Adam Shankman is
currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center. His friends
and family support him and wish him well on his journey to
recovery."
The day before entering a facility, Shankman served as the
executive producer and director of TrevorLive, an event hosted by
suicide prevention organization, The Trevor Project in Los Angeles.
Throughout the night, he posted photos on Twitter.com as he happily
posed with the night's honouree, Jane Lynch, and her fellow Glee
co-stars.
Earlier this year (13), his good friend and Hairspray star Zac
Efron also entered rehab, and Shankman was by his side last month
(Nov13) when Efron broke his jaw, helping to nurse him back to
health.
Shankman previously told Us Weekly, "I have been at his house every
day and I have been making him soup... He's like my little brother,
has been since Hairspray. So I talk to him like a little brother,
which means I give him a lot of s**t!"
Shankman is the producer behind the successful Step Up franchise,
and was the director of such films as The Wedding Planner, A Walk
to Remember and Rock of Ages. He has also helmed episodes of Glee
and Modern Family, and serves as a guest judge on America's So You
Think You Can Dance reality competition series.
