Oh, I know. Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day, and I treat it like garbage. I had I had a not even half a bag of Lays, and just yum. Just perfect.
This time of war can't go on anymore. Kenzie here at the Young Hollywood Studios and I'm listening up with Miss Haley Reinhart. It's been a year since I've seen you. I've missed you so.
Me too. I can't believe it. It's kind of crazy. It's been that long. No, you I you were excited to see me. I could tell. It's not like I'm invisible.
You stay where me under your skin. Throughout this process of making this new album listen up, have you been like okay and been patient, or have you been anxious to get your face back out there?
Um, well, it's still been chaos. Like everything has been chaotic, just different degrees and different levels. Um, I've been working my tail off and I have been anxious to get the CD out, but at the same time, I definitely wanted to take my time with it and make it the the right the right thing, you know?
We don't let go. We can get close. I still need you and you still need me. And why do you think so many people are in love with free?
You know, the reason why I was so captivated by it in the first place was because, you know, it's very relatable, first of all, and and the sound is is definitely the direction I would like to go into, and, um, it has an organic raw feel to it with the different things like the piano and and such, and, um, you know, just all these things combined, I I thought it was such a great fit, and I think, you know, everybody could agree.
Well, I can't you see? I want to be. I want you to be. Can you tell me what it was like to work with B. O. B?
Well, we um, we had only going, and it was very short. Very short song, and, um, you know, I like it short and sweet, but we needed to add a little something something there, and, uh, so we were thinking of different rappers, had a few on the track, and, um, I didn't actually, I wasn't present with B. O. B, but he he just lay down a track, send it to us. I absolutely loved it. I thought, you know, the the energy and the the vibe that he uh created with his part really, you know, was in sync with with the with the vibe of the song.
What do you think about reality shows and becoming an artist? Do you think that you are at an advantage, or do you think you're at a disadvantage? Because people might look at you as American Idol, but at the same time, you've established a fan base that is horribly in love with you.
Yes. I like how you put that. Um, I think, uh, the more and more I'm I'm going about this whole career of mine, I really think it's a wonderful, beautiful thing having all these new shows that are discovering talent because I've said this before, I don't feel like, you know, there's not agents just sitting around in clubs looking for their next big act anymore. It's like these types of shows are the ticket. These are this is the way that people are going to get discovered, that that new voice.
Let it go. Let it go. Yeah, because we both know this will all be over when we are free. Are you able to watch these or you're just way too busy to watch any of those kind of singing competition shows? Because I imagine that you could watch and be like, oh, I'm feeling for you. I ache for you right now, but you're probably like all over the place.
I am all over the place, but when I do get a chance and if I'm if I'm just sitting at home, then I will catch it. And I watched Idol. I actually checked out the Voice the finale yesterday. Um, so, you know, I just if I'm around, I'll check it out.
Well, you're pretty awesome. Thanks for hanging out with Young Hollywood.
My pleasure.
I was about to end the interview until I remembered some random on Twitter wanted me to ask you what you had for breakfast this morning, and then I was intrigued, so do you mind sharing that with Young Hollywood?
Perfect. Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day, and I treat it like garbage. I had I had a not even half a bag of Lays, and just perfect. I'm I'm about to go to this joint somewhere around here and probably have some barbecued. I don't do it right. I don't, but I just went to Whole Foods for the first time yesterday.
Good.
And I got a lot of good stuff.
That is good.
So, kind of proud of myself.
Oh, I want to be free.
