Should There Have Been a Second Season of Netflix's "No Good Nick"?
I’m looking back on this one, and my apologies for only getting to this now!
Unlike many of you, I only just recently stumbled upon Netflix Original “No Good Nick” and became intrigued with the show. First premiering last April on Netflix, this sitcom offered much suspense, laughs, and entertainment during its lone season. The release of Part 2 followed in August.
For any of you who are not aware of this show, the plot revolves around a cunning teenage girl named Nicole Franzelli/Patterson (Siena Agudong) who decides to appear at the doorstep of the Thompson family, consisting of dad Ed (Sean Astin), mom Liz (Melissa Joan Hart), son Jeremy (Kalama Epstein), and daughter Molly (Lauren Lindsey Donzis), as a fake long-lost relative and swindle them through different cons that could generate money to get her father out of prison.
The teen must stay focused despite a growing mutual admiration with the family.
Unfortunately, the series was not picked up for another season after the first one ended with Nick running into the arms of the Thompsons, who presumably take her back home to continue being a part of their family. This prompts the question: should the series have earned another season?
Well, because I am a fan, my completely biased opinion is YES!
Not only did the show emphasize the importance of family, but it was charming, hilarious, and witty. However, with the con over at the end of Season 1, hypothetical Season 2 plot points may have revolved around Nick trying to live life honestly, her getting fully acclimated in school and as a family member of the Thompsons, or even the emergence of another swindler (after all, this show is about cons).
We will never officially know (ugh), and fans of the series can only imagine what would happen if Nick’s life with the Thompsons was depicted further.
