Where to begin with the characters? They are all so unique and entertaining in their own way. For one, Colt’s return to the ranch has made him the primary target of jokes from father Beau and brother Rooster. As if getting criticized for his football skills is not enough, his ranching skills are mocked as well. Poor Colt! He’s a trying fellow, though, and works to earn back his family’s respect.

Then there’s Rooster, who is reckless, sleazy, a player, and tends to drink frequently with his brother. I mean, being nicknamed after a bird is perfect, because he always shows the potential to reach new heights of irresponsibility.

The father of the boys, Beau Bennett, is a hard-nosed, emotionless rancher who despises his sons instead of trying to act as a parent. He is steadfast and tries to live life by his own rules. He loves steak, whiskey, and his Ford truck.

Finally, there’s Maggie, the voice of reason and peaceholder in the family. She parents the boys, unlike Beau, and offers her concerns and advice when needed.

The starkly different personalities of the main characters make the clashes and resultant humor more amusing!
