Moments From Gerard Butler’s 'Plane' That Will Make You Gasp!
Plane will make any avid flier clench their seats in this new action thriller starring Gerard Butler and Mike Colter. Butler is the pilot of Trailblazer, a generalized airline taking passengers from Singapore to Tokyo. Along for the ride are a few archetypal passengers and a criminal that was added last minute to be transferred.
Captain Brodie Torrance, played by Butler, is forced to make an emergency landing on the nearest patch of Earth after entering into a surging storm. Surviving the landing is just the beginning for these characters, as they soon come to realize they are on an island full of rebels.
Responsible for his passengers and crew, Captain Torrance does all he can to assure their safety. Some crazy moments happen along the way that are just wild enough to make you gasp!
1. Flying Through A Storm
Plane crash scenes have been done time and time again, but what always makes them work is the anxiety they produce. With no control over the situation as a passenger, being on a plane has you under the pilot's discretion. As the plane gets jerked back and forth and up and down, the turbulence feels as real as if you were there. Trusting the pilot to do his job is the only hope -- good thing Gerard Butler is at the helm.
2. Landing a Plane With No Power
Take a deep breath for this emergency landing. One of the most heart-pounding moments takes place during the inciting incident. While trying to navigate through the surging storm, the plane gets struck by lightning, causing the electricity to go out. This intense sequence takes place in the cockpit as the pilot and co-pilot attempt to land the plane. Up close with the actors, we can feel their angst and apprehension as they make the descent.
3. Holding the Captain Back
The hero of the story always wants to jump into the action. When Captain Torrance comes back from scouting the island, he finds the rebels detaining his passengers and crew. With Louis Gaspare as the only other person around, he makes sure Torrance isn’t going to do anything stupid. You’ll want to yell at the screen as Gaspare has to tackle Torrance in order to not give up their whereabouts!
4. Hand-to-Hand Combat
This choreographed sequence of hand-to-hand combat shows Butler at his best. Fighting with one of the rebels allows the camera to view them up close as they attempt to kill each other. The performance makes the audience anxious as Butler’s age is meant to be a factor in his performance. Torrance’s body can only take so much before he will need a helping hand.
5. Bringing the Plane Back to Life
The film is called Plane for a reason, as they use the vehicle that got them where they are to escape. As Butler gets the engine’s running in a last ditch effort to escape the island, an intense gunfight starts to brew. Time ticks whether they will be able to get away, but Torrance dodges rockets and bullets as he maneuvers the plane off the ground and into the sky once more.
Plane is now in theatres!
