Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter Confirm Another Excellent Adventure For Bill & Ted On The Way!

It’s been a while since we've heard from the stars of the time traveling comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and the afterlife follow-up Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, but look for a third installment starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter to (FINALLY) come out on August 21, 2020 -- ten years after the initial announcement. Don’t believe me that this is actually going to happen? Just listen to this excellent (yes, I had to go there) announcement from the Wyld Stallyns themselves, Bill & Ted:

Look at that! We even get a title and it keeps with their pattern of not saying which number is what in the series, because why do that in a series based on time travel? (Back to the Future gets a pass because it’s Back to the Future.) Anyway, if you missed it, it’s titled Bill & Ted Face the Music. Considering Bill & Ted have both technically died, I’m assuming this doesn’t have to necessarily do with death. It’s tough to assume what exactly will happen here, as the pair have already conquered time travel, and since going to the afterlife can be seen as going into other dimensions, then maybe they’ll do something else? Space? Deep sea exploration? Or maybe what will probably be the final Bill & Ted will just be a straight-forward drama about suburban life and fatherhood while still trying to be best friends? Now that would be confusing and trippy.

All speculation aside, we do actually know the plot. As of now, we’re told it’s going to follow the best friends in their middle age as they set out to finally fulfill their rock & roll destiny, and if it didn’t seem more like it was meant to be for them, a traveler from the future tells them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. I don’t know about you, but I already smell something fishy about this time traveler and what their song will actually do.

Bill & Ted Face the Music is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2020, with filming said to begin this summer (according to the video above). The film will be directed by Dean Parisot and is written by the franchise’s mainstay writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.

Most Triumphant!
