You might not know her name now, but you certainly will soon. The CW’s mysterious new take on the iconic teen detective Nancy Drew premiered last week and its leading lady Kennedy McMann is about to become a household name. She’s new to the acting scene, so we dug up all the deets we know so far!
1. She’s not just a pretty face. Kennedy is 22 and fresh out of college! She received a BFA in Acting from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. It looks like they trained her well.
2. Does she look familiar to you? Nancy Drew is certainly Kennedy’s breakout role, but you may have spotted her flexing her drama muscles in a few episodes of "Gone" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". After all, most of the biggest stars in the biz started out on SVU.
3. She’s officially off the market. Kennedy may have a new on-screen love interest in co-star Tunji Kasim, but earlier this year she announced her engagement on Instagram. We may be a bit late but… Congratulations!!!
4. Acting is more than just a profession. Kennedy has opened up about how she uses acting as a way of coping with her OCD. When she was diagnosed at just 9 years old, she turned to theatre as therapy: “At nine, I would go to rehearsal and for those three or four hours, I got to replace my brain with somebody else’s. It was something where I could escape my problems and have somebody else’s different problems and it was such a relief to me and became one of my therapies.”
5. She’s Nancy Drew’s biggest fan. Kennedy grew up reading the books that would pave the way for her big break in Hollywood. She even used to play Nancy Drew mystery games on the computer, so when she got the chance to step into Nancy’s shoes in real life, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
We're so excited to see Kennedy bring Nancy Drew to life (though probably not as much as she is)! It looks like she has quite the career ahead of her!
You can watch "Nancy Drew" Wednesday nights at 9pm on The CW.
