1. "Asylum" (Season 2)

This season of "AHS" terrified me. It centered around a killer, a mental asylum, and the intertwining stories of its inhabitants. It also included a musical number that I immediately downloaded onto my iPhone. Like other seasons, it can be a bit random, like one patient claiming to be Anne Frank, but they do an excellent job of centering everything back to our main character Lana (Sarah Paulson), who had been committed for being a lesbian. Jessica Lange plays a terrifying nun who is ruthless, and another nun gets possessed by the devil. There is also a mad scientist. Oh, and aliens. But after everything we've seen since, is that really so bizarre?!
