When the red carpet gets rolled out, we expect to see celebrities making appearances in bold, lavish outfits. Usually, that applies primarily to women. Every awards show, it's easy to lose track of how many men are just wearing standard black suits. Colman Domingo, however, is a spectacular exception. The Emmy-winning actor, who was nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a SAG Award for his performance in Rustin, went above and beyond with his outfits this Awards Season, and we love him for it. 1. January 4, 2024: Palm Springs Film Awards

Domingo was awarded the Spotlight Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January. He walked the carpet at the awards ceremony wearing a monochrome Zegna ensemble. The outfit is sleek and professional, and the color tone perfectly suits the desert atmosphere of the festival. The silhouette of a monochrome outfit is important. His blazer and turtleneck are fitted, and they pair well with his straight-legged pants. It can be difficult to make a look interesting without incorporating more than one color, but Domingo and his styling team (Wayman Deon and Micah McDonald) make it look effortless.

2. January 14, 2024: Critics Choice Awards

Domingo dazzled at the 29th Critics Choice Awards when he wore a mustard yellow Valentino suit with matching Louboutin boots. The bold look was completed with a gold coat and gold jewelry. He wore a light blue shirt, and the lining of his coat was a darker blue. These color accents added a fun contrast to the outfit. This was a glorious high fashion look that Domingo pulled off brilliantly.

3. January 15, 2024: Emmy Awards

At the 77th annual British Academy Film Awards, Domingo was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Rustin. He wore a classy and trendy custom BOSS suit that featured a pop of color with the navy blazer, and was styled with a loose black bow tie, Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and an OMEGA watch. His wide-legged black pants complimented the outfit and are totally in-style right now. This look was visually appealing without being overwhelming in any aspect.

5. February 24, 2024: SAG Awards

At the 30th annual SAG awards, Domingo was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Rustin and as well as Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture for The Color Purple. He graced the event in a fashion-forward Off-White brand suit. With a light pink hue and criss-cross black straps, this is not your traditional suit. The look is appropriately elegant but also playful. We love to see celebrities explore a variety of styles.

6. February 25, 2024: Independent Spirit Awards

Domingo shined in a custom Versace suit at the 39th Independent Spirit Awards. His silver tweed suit and satin overcoat were everything. This outfit was so stunning that it is difficult to look away. You just have to stop and admire the beauty. The shiny black Jimmy Choo shoes draw the eye due to the contrast of color, and it all worked so well together. 7. March 9, 2024: Pre-Oscars Dinner

We know Colman Domingo slays in a vibrant color, so it was delightful to see him in this rich emerald suit at the Chanel and Charles Finch Annual Pre-Oscar Dinner. The texture and color of the suit were captivating. The Valentino suit and Louboutin shoe combination was simply elite. They were such a gorgeous choice of items to pair. Domingo also wore a low-cut white shirt that showed off his simple gold necklace -- and his physique!

8. March 10, 2024: Academy Awards

Domingo arrived at the 96th Academy Awards in a custom black Louis Vuitton suit that featured a broach bowtie by David Yurman. This was THE black suit. It tied together elegance with a bit of a country-western twist. The suit pants flared at the bottom to accommodate the custom Louis Vuitton cowboy boots. All of Domingo’s accessories worked in tandem to make this outfit shine and shimmer. This look was a standout from an already spectacularly-dressed event.

9. March 10, 2024: Oscars Vanity Fair Party

Last, but certainly not least, Domingo’s look following the Oscars, at the annual Vanity Fair party, where he wore a bejeweled Balmain coat designed to resemble a woman’s face. Under the glittering coat, he wore a black mesh shirt and straight-legged black pants. The look is creative and visually intriguing, enticing without distracting anyone from the statement piece coat. It is a triumphant fashion moment. The outfit would have looked wonderful on its own, but the coat elevated it to new heights.
