5 YouTube Channels Every Movie Lover Should Be Subscribed To!

This one's for you, cinephiles. If you love over-analyzing movies and discovering the most amazing fun facts, easter eggs, or fan theories about them, then you need to check out this list of movie-related YouTube channels that are totally worth subscribing to right now!

1. The Take

Ever wondered why Regina was a mean girl? Or what the true meaning of the Oscar winner Parasite actually is? Then stick around because The Take has something interesting for pretty much everyone!

While exploring the most common Hollywood tropes and clichés, The Take not only gives you insight on what they say about our culture but does something even better: it takes the characters, storylines, and elements from the shows or movies that we like and points out what you can learn from them for your everyday life.

So basically, it’s an entertaining combination of criticism and introspection that we can’t help but love. Plus, the topics are perfectly unpredictable: you can go from “The Last Airbender” to “Cool Girls” in just a second!

2. Sideways

Sarcasm, cynicism and a huge passion for movie soundtracks – that’s the crazy mix that makes Sideways such an addictive Youtube Channel!

If you want to know how Disney uses music to make you feel nostalgic or why their new live-action adaptations aren’t reaching their full potential, Sideways has got your back. You don’t have to be a music genius to follow his hilariously honest videos; as long as you’re ready to challenge your childhood views, you’ll definitely enjoy the content!

You can check out one of his videos down below,  but fair warning: it won’t be long before you see yourself clicking the “subscribe” button!

3. Ms. Mojo

Let’s settle this: which iconic characters should’ve been a couple? And which “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” jokes will never get old? Ms. Mojo is a channel specialized in creating rankings and lists about pop culture, so they should be able to lend us a hand!

Their videos are very easy to watch, which makes it super tempting to just go on a YouTube spiral whenever you want to disconnect or relax. Since the channel has been around for some years now, there’s nothing missing in their catalogue; every fan or casual movie-goer can rest assured that they’ll find an engaging video to watch any time.

However, we can’t guarantee that you won’t be muttering “Welcome to Ms. Mojo” in their distinctive tone every time you open a new video!

4. Nerdwriter1

This one is a bit more high-brow than the rest of them, but it’s a great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and learn more about art in every way possible. You can start by watching a video about Spotlight, followed by one about Van Gogh, and then finish up with an analysis of DC comics – it’s quite a journey, but a highly recommendable one!

Honestly, the videos are so well-researched that you just know every piece of information has been fact-checked. The almost journalistic approach makes the channel trustworthy as well as though-provoking! So please, don’t forget to give Nerdwriter1 a chance.

5. Now You See It

Now You See It is a channel focused on video essays that, in less than 10 minutes, can radically change how you view stories: What does the color red mean in a movie? Is Joker "cinema"? And how has the internet changed storytelling? (Shane Dawson, we’re looking at you and your docuseries!)

The topics and questions posed are super original, which is what caught my attention in the first place. But after following the channel for some time now, I can definitely confirm that Now You See It is the definition of mind-blowing. It might be more technical than other names from this list, but you should still take a look at these awesome videos just to understand why I love them so much.
