5 Virtual Adventures You Can Take From The Comfort of Your Home!

Written by Emily Holshouser. Published: August 13 2020

School may be starting soon, but it's summer, a time when many of us would usually take road trips or visit parks, zoos, and aquariums. Those things may not be possible for you right now, so we've gathered up some virtual adventures you can take from your own home before school starts (or even after)!

1. Virtual National Park Tours

If you’re missing national parks, you can take a tour through many of America’s favorite scenic spots. Visit Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park and watch an eruption! Look over Apgar Mountain at Glacier National Park! The options for virtual sightseeing are endless.

2. Virtual Disneyland

Disneyland may be closed, but you can still visit the happiest place on earth! There are tons of virtual ride experiences and walkthrough videos. If you want to take it a step up, get on a Zoom call with your friends and make a Disneyland recipe while you take a virtual trip to Jungle Cruise, or watch a fireworks show.

3. Aquarium Webcams

Many aquariums and zoos across the world have webcams so you can see our furry, aquatic, and winged friends. Learn about our ecosystems and the big world we inhabit, even within the comfort of your home. Put these on while you clean or cook to feel a connection to the natural world!

4. Access Mars

Google and NASA have joined together to create Access Mars, a virtual Mars Curiosity Rover experience. Roam the surface of the red planet and learn about the technology behind this little scientific miracle! Don’t worry, you don’t have to leave Earth to do some extraterrestrial adventuring.

5. MapCrunch

This one is a classic. MapCrunch is a website that places you at a random point on Google Earth. There are so many possibilities. You can try to locate yourself, get somewhere else, or just find a new, interesting place in the world.

Happy exploring!
